Philip set out the historical context and his reasons for attempting to prove a point. I found myself moving from scepticism towards acceptance. Philip's use of humour helped to hold the audience and he provoked some good questions at the end. I would rank it among the best of our talks this year.

The Chulmleigh Society recently had a most interesting talk given by Philip Beale on the Phoenicians and their links with the Americas. We were all very impressed by his knowledge, spirit of adventure and the fluency of his speaking combined with humour and impressive visual aids.
